Volleyball program
A discussion about life lessons including sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership. Review of previous lessons and introduction of new skills and techniques. We then transition into the G ROW section which includes: Rotating through skill development stations to practice passing, setting, serving, spiking, and blocking skills. Lessons about the rules and history of the sport. Students participate in fun activities to explore STEAM concepts like gravity, friction, and reaction time through volleyball.
Scrimmages between two teams of players. Wendell played on The Farm from and helped set the foundation for the men's volleyball program, which was in its infancy as a varsity sport at the time. The Birkhofers have been longtime, loyal supporters of the program and of the university, which has played a major role in the family's higher education. Both of their children, as well as Wendell's parents and half-brother, are all Stanford graduates; additionally, Celeste serves as a member of the adjunct clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Over the years, their giving has also included support for financial aid, undergraduate education, the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Stanford Medicine. The game is designed to keep kids moving, engaged and learning new skills. With modified court sizes and rules, our youth volleyball format is the perfect way to teach kids ages the fundamentals of volleyball while developing their hand-eye coordination, agility, and overall athletic skills.

Progressive drills promote using the net and high frequency of touches on the ball. With the first two weeks of the volleyball program being instructional only, your child will be more ready for game play in week 3.
